This page aims to inform you about how Serum Italia handles personal data and confidential business information it obtains through the Serum Italia website. Serum Italia is aware that you put your faith in us. We therefore consider it important to protect your privacy. In order to provide its services, Serum Italia collects personal information.

On this page we let you know what data we collect when you use our website or receive our newsletter, why we collect this data and how we handle it. In addition, we indicate how you can ensure that you are removed from mailing lists and how you can indicate that you want your data to be deleted from our files. This enables you to understand exactly how we operate.

Serum Italia abides by the requirements of the Personal Data Protection Act (Wbp) and, with effect from 25 May 2018, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). This legal framework sets out how personal data should be handled.

Who are we? 

Serum Italia is based in Cazzago S. Martino, near Brescia, and is specialized in the sourcing & selecting the best available liquid cheese whey for further processing in our state-of-the-art factory to Whey Protein Concentrate 80%. In northern Italy, primarily in Lombardy, Veneto and Emilia Romagna, we select and collect the best available cheese whey. Serum Italia collects approximately 60.000mt of liquid whey, on dry matter basis.

Why this Privacy Statement?

We are responsible for protecting your personal data as well as possible. In doing so, we must comply with the requirements of the privacy regulations. Among other things, we want to be transparent about the types of data we process, the purposes for processing, with whom we share data and what rights you have regarding your own data. Types of data       

Name and address details
Which of your data we process depends on the contact we have with you:

  • When you visit our website and use our systems, we collect data about your visit to our site, cookies and cookie settings via your IP address. We only use cookies that play a functional role within our website or services.
  • If you request information from us, we ask you to provide your contact details so that we can send the information to you.
  • If you become a customer, we need your contact details (name, address, place of residence, phone number and email address) in any case. We use this data for the performance of the agreement that we have with you.
  • If you apply for a job with us, we will ask for your CV, diplomas/degree certificates, where applicable, and possibly other personal data. We store this data, following your consent to do so, for a maximum of 12 months after you have applied for a job with us.
  • We process data about the contact you had with us, if you asked us a question or if you lodged a complaint with us. We will record your complaint in our complaints records.

Purposes of data processing

We may process your personal data aimed at, among other things, the following activities in our company:

  • For the performance of our services;
  • To be able to contact you;
  • To manage our data and comply with statutory provisions.

Improve and innovate
We use personal data to keep improving our products and services. To do this, we create reports and analyses of our services. When preparing these, we delete personal data we do not need where possible. We may also bundle data at a certain level of abstraction (aggregate), encrypt (pseudonymise) or anonymise it.

Legal grounds for processing data

We use at least one of the following grounds for processing your personal data:

  • The processing is necessary for the performance of the agreement;
  • The processing is necessary to comply with a legal obligation;
  • The processing is necessary for the promotion of a legitimate interest.

Storage and retention period of personal data

We store your personal data only so long and insofar as we need it. We will store data that we need for at least the duration of our relationship or agreement. If our relationship or agreement ends, we will store the data for the statutory retention periods applicable to us.

Provision of data to third parties

We do not provide your personal data to others without reason. We may do so if you have given us consent for that, if we are required to do so by law or a court ruling, or if such provision serves our purposes of processing personal data. However, for the purpose of conducting our business and depending on the services provided to you, we may provide your personal data to external parties who process the personal data under our responsibility.
